Planet Fitness was the highest ranking health club making Entrepreneur’s 2022 Franchise 500 list, but 16 other brands joined the public company, including F45 Training, Crunch and Anytime Fitness.
Of the 500 franchises recognized, Planet Fitness ranked No. 7 overall and ranked No. 1 in the fitness category.

The next highest ranking fitness brand was F45 Training, which came in at No. 42 overall.

Xponential Fitness placed four of its 10 brands on the list. Its brands Club Pilates (No. 165), Pure Barre (No. 222) and CycleBar (No. 496) returned to the list while StretchLab made its debut on the list at No. 498. In addition to the overall ranking, Club Pilates, StretchLab and Pure Barre led their respective modalities - Pilates, barre and assisted stretching - as No. 1 in their category.

Entrepreneur magazine’s editorial team researches and assesses several factors that go into the ranking, including costs and fees, size and growth, support, brand strength, and financial strength and stability. Each franchise is given a cumulative score based on an analysis of more than 150 data points, and the 500 franchises with the highest cumulative scores become the Franchise 500 in ranking order.
